Crooked Bars: 'October 9th and 10th' EP Review

Indie artists Crooked Bars are from Portland, Oregon. I’ve never been to Portland, but I imagine that if a city was made of music it then Portland would sound like their EP, October 9th and 10th. This album is light, airy, melodic, soulful….and just plain great.

I suggest popping this in the ol’ radio (uploading to your preferred MP3 player) on a cool sunny day and drive around with the windows down and no destination. Of course, for whatever reason, “Rebel”  puts me in the mood for some serious making out…that could totally just be me though. “Jazz! Ladies?”  is also one of my top picks, smooth and a bit jazzy, nice guitar (you get it, I think it’s pretty).

Make out session or no, Crooked Bars (Joe Bates/Singer, songwriter, guitarist, Jay Turk/Bass, Jacob McCollam/Drums, and Matt Radich/Guitar) have certainly earned a spot on my list of bands I hope to hear more from!

Oh, I almost left this out! Silly me! Because these guys are TRUE lovers of their craft, you can download this five song EP free of charge!

About

After being alive for over three years, Gravy and Biscuits finally found its home as an indie music e-zine. The staff is a group of Southerners who love good music, from indie to bluegrass to electronic, and lots in between. Review-wise, we aim to give both intimate and informative reviews without being pretentious. Anybody can use a thesaurus, but we have Southern charm.
