Of Montreal

Of Montreal is an indie pop Elephant 6 band from Athens, GA, led by Kevin Barnes. It is one of the only Elephant 6 bands that is still producing new albums, perhaps because of Barnes’ adaptability from playing Beatlesque-type music in the 1990s to electronic glam indie rock in later years.

Barnes is famous for being an expert showman and his flamboyant costumes.  Of Montreal also became famous (and lost their hipster cred) when their song, “Wraith Pinned to the Mist” became the new Outback Steakhouse song, and “Let’s pretend we don’t exist, let’s pretend we’re in Antarctica” became “Let’s go Outback tonight, life will still be here tomorrow”.

About

After being alive for over three years, Gravy and Biscuits finally found its home as an indie music e-zine. The staff is a group of Southerners who love good music, from indie to bluegrass to electronic, and lots in between. Review-wise, we aim to give both intimate and informative reviews without being pretentious. Anybody can use a thesaurus, but we have Southern charm.
