    Popcorn, Stilettos, and Confidence

    By Jebbica | April 7, 2008

    Jessica P. Wallin Popcorn Shoot

Never underestimate the sneakiness of popcorn. Though I was fully-dressed for this shoot with Tony Wear, it took me two days and more than one bath to get all the kernels out of my clothes and places they shouldn’t be.

On a more positive front, I’m beginning to feel more at ease with myself, my size, and my horrible paleness. Some days are better than others! Have you ever felt like, when you think that people don’t like you, when you go somewhere and people are looking at you, in your head all you think about is them heckling you and your flaws and how much they don’t like you? And then, if you’re having a good day and the same people look at you, you’re hoping they’re wondering your life story and if you’re intriguing, and it makes you smile. I don’t have nearly as many of the latter days as I’d like. But the past couple of shoots (still waiting on the shots from DG) have faired a lot better for me and my confidence, something I only have in spurts and small doses, despite what a smartass I am when poking fun at celebrities and rednecks and life in general.

No matter who you are, there are things about you that you probably don’t like, and maybe you spend hours obsessing over them and you think that’s all people see. And chances are, they don’t. They probably don’t even notice that your thighs have cellulite or you think your eyes are too close together or you have a snaggle tooth, because they’re too busy obsessing with their own flaws! So, if you’re like me and you’re dealing with these issues, here’s something I’ve learned: Get over it. In the big and small of things, you are who you are and there are always going to be people who like you for it, and people who don’t. So, in your head, just assume that the people who like you are the smart ones, the people who know what they’re talking about, and piss on the people who don’t! I mean, who are they, really?

So, that’s your “here’s what I’ve learned today that I’m passing onto you” tip of the day. I’m including more photos after the jump of the other shots we did. As for the stilettos portion of this article, I was wearing them, and I almost killed myself standing on some wrought iron junk hanging out when I had to stand outside and peer out from behind a “window.” And they didn’t even make an appearance in any of these shots. Next time I’m keeping my ‘Roos on.

Special thanks to Tony Wear for shooting with me again, and to Nathan for helping me and helping clean up four garbage bags worth of popcorn off the floor!

I am totally having one of those days, only it’s not snaggle teeth and cellulite that’s my problem - it’s my damn dangs. I have even set up a little mirror on my desk so I can obsess over them more thoroughly. They seem fuzzy and dorky and it feels like people must think I look ridiculous.

And just like you said - I really need to get over it.

But I can’t. I’m pretty sure they look stupid.

Very cool. The popcorn around your face shot could have been really cool. I think I might have tried shooting directly down on you. Who am I though. Keep it up! Next time get the stilletto’s in the shot. I know they must be uncomfotable and perhaps even dangerous…GET OVER IT lol. To us guys they are like a bone to dog. (This last sentence sounds more acceptable when read with an Italian Mafia accent.)
