Jennifer Garner, pregnant and beautiful, always seems so happy and full of life. She just looks like someone who can go to the Oscars one day and then go get a Happy Meal at McDonald’s the next. I think that’s what makes her so glamorous yet relate-able to most people as a Hollywood starlet, and also why we hardly ever hear anything bad about her.
So, while I wasn’t surprised that someone would stalk someone like Jennifer, I was surprised that she actually did anything about it! Garner has taken a restraining order against Steven Burkey, who has been sending her letters and packages for years. She just seems like such a pushover, who would be kind of like, “aww, you’re so sweet, thanks!” in response to crazy letters and emails. And she probably was like that at first, but you know how it is…give someone an inch and they take a mile, or the next thing you know they have a shrine to you and think you’re their queen. Don’t you hate when this happens?
Anyway, when I read Steven’s letters (below), I actually thought, aww, he’s kind of sweet! I didn’t see any “I want to wear your skin” kind of letters–mainly just a lot of “I love you”s over and over. But hubby Ben Affleck is probably not too fond of that, and I would imagine it would get old after awhile! Comes with the territory, I guess. Jennifer claims in her restraining order, “Mr. Burky has been stalking and harassing me,” sending “packages and letters containing delusional and paranoid thoughts and following me around the country… his obsessive and harassing behaviour has escalated to the point of becoming dangerous and threatening…
“I am currently pregnant and fear for the safety of my second child once born.”
