Bonnaroo Music Festival

The Bonnaroo Music Festival is a music festival that is held every June in Manchester, Tennessee. The festival began in 2002 by AC Entertainment and Superfly Productions. Held for four days, Bonnaroo started as a festival for jam bands and has branched out to include all sorts of acts, from indie artists to rappers to all sorts of pop and rock icons. Notable acts such as Radiohead, Flaming Lips, The Police, The Decemberists, and The White Stripes have all played on one of Bonnaroo’s stages.

Speaking of their stages, Bonnaroo is also known for having the most confusing tent structure ever.  The names of the tents are “What Stage”, “Which Stage”, “This Tent”, “That Tent”, “The Other Tent”, etc. So as if most Bonnaroo-goers weren’t strung out on something as it were, they also have to deal with conversations that go like this:

“Hey, I’m going over to That Tent to hear Hot Chip.”

“Which tent?”

“No, not Which Tent, That Tent.”

“This tent?”

“No, the other tent.”

“The Other Tent?”

You get the idea.

The term “Bonnaroo” comes from Dr. John’s 1974 album Desitively Bonnaroo. Dr. John has been added to the 2011 Bonnaroo Lineup.

About

After being alive for over three years, Gravy and Biscuits finally found its home as an indie music e-zine. The staff is a group of Southerners who love good music, from indie to bluegrass to electronic, and lots in between. Review-wise, we aim to give both intimate and informative reviews without being pretentious. Anybody can use a thesaurus, but we have Southern charm.
