Travis McCoy, the lead singer for the emo/hip-hop group Gym Class Heroes, was arrested Tuesday for assault during a concert in St. Louis.
“Somebody in the crowd was taunting Travis with racial slurs,” the band’s manager told People. “Travis invited him onstage with the intent of calling him out in front of the crowd, with absolutely no intention of a physical altercation. When he tried to help him onstage, the guy hit Travis in the knee area, forcing Travis to defend himself. At this point, a scuffle broke out.”
According to Rolling Stone magazine, McCoy apologized immediately following the incident. “I’m sorry,” he told the audience. “But when someone calls you something that’s ignorant and that offensive, you have to bash their head in with a microphone.”
McCoy has since been released on $500 bail. I’m sure that Travis isn’t a violent person, but why would someone come to a show just to start trouble? I would have knocked that guy out, too!

So did he hit the guy for hitting him or calling him a name? Sounds like he apologized for becoming violent over the racial slur. BTW, I saw the video and the guy was being held by 3 security when Travis hit him with the microphone. I don’t know where they got that the guy hit Travis first. I’m just sayin’, something isn’t rite there. GL Travis.

I agree with Travis, racist people are just soooooooo lame and if i was him that would’nt have been the only thing i would’ve hit him with,he just hating on my Trav.He should be the one to apologize,Travis be the proud mixed cutie tooti u are and forget that stupid trash he is not worth your time honey, i know you got better things to do but i would’ve wooped his low life punk a*s.ok?!
