Wilco Guitarist Nels Cline’s Solo Opus ‘Coward’ Earns Rave Review
Wilco‘s “Guitar God” Nels Cline receives rave review for his solo album Coward in today’s New York Times. The album, which drops tomorrow, is on Cryptogramophone Records.
Below are selected quotations from New York Times critic Ben Ratliff‘s review. To read the entire review, CLICK HERE.
NELS CLINE
“Coward”
(Cryptogramophone)
“This record reflects a far-and-wide aesthetic imagination, one that’s been broadening for a long time.”
“Meditative and minimal as these pieces may be, they’re written with rigor. Hear them once, and you might only be lulled, but one more time and you’ll hear the purpose and symmetry.”
“. . .much of this record strikes a similar tone: it sounds like both an advertisement and an elegy for deep listening.”
BEN RATLIFF
————————————————————————–
This album features the Wilco guitarist playing the following instruments: acoustic guitars, electric guitars, effects, shruti boxes, autoharp/zither things, Megamouth, Quintronics Drum Buddy, Kaossilator
Be sure to check it out! We will have all of the Tuesday CD releases listed on Gravy and Biscuits tomorrow.
