Zooey Deschanel and Ben Gibbard are Engaged!

According to E! Online, Ben Gibbard has popped the question to actress Zooey Deschanel. It’s a match made in indie rock heaven!

Gibbard, 32, is the frontman for Death Cab for Cutie (or as this guy on the college radio station used to say, “Deaf Crab fo’ Cru-tay”) and The Postal Service, and Deschanel, 28, is costarring in the new Jim Carrey movie, Yes Man. She also is part of her own indie rock band, She & Him. The “Him” part of that band is M. Ward, but I would be ecstatic if Zooey and Ben got together for a side project and cut an album!

I have been all about some She & Him lately. In fact, my last playlist on my personal blog has all the best Zooey songs if you want to check that out. And Ben doesn’t know this yet, but he’s totally written both my wedding song (“Such Great Heights“) and my funeral song (“I’ll Follow You into the Dark”). He is the absolute best at being romantic without being too cheesy.

Congrats, you two! You make me feel like all is right in the world.
